Highlands Elementary is in the Shawnee Mission School District and located near 63rd and Roe in Mission, KS. We have approximately 300 students from kindergarten through sixth grade and proudly serve the neighborhoods of Fairway, Mission and Prairie Village.
The Highlands Elementary Parent-Teacher Association is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with a strong tradition of exceptional support for our children’s education.
The Highlands PTA organizes community-building social opportunities for our kids and families and helps implement curriculum-enhancement activities in the classroom.
Through fundraising efforts we strive to provide supplemental funds to maintain the high level of core programs offered to our students -- programs that keep our community attractive and strong. Examples include supplemental teacher aide time, curriculum enhancement programs and technology-based learning initiatives. In this climate of state education funding reductions, this mission is more important than ever.
The PTA has made a conscious effort not to have our children sell items door-to-door. Most of our school social events are self-supporting through ticket and meal charges. Our major school fundraisers include a carnival, book fair, auction, variety show, and 2-mile run/walk.
We welcome all parents, staff, family members, neighbors and friends into the Highlands PTA! We also welcome your ideas. If you’re interested in joining us or have ideas or contributions to make, please contact HighlandsPTAPrez@Gmail.com or a board member.
